Alia Bhatt is perfect for these Mahesh Bhatt's films

She's the cute bubbly girl who made a smashing debut with Karan Johar's Student of the Year. The spunky actress is the daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan and her step sister is Pooja Bhatt. While Alia has worked with Karan Johar and Imitiaz Ali, it would be interesting to see her act in one of her father's films. In an interview, she said, "Many actresses have got performance-oriented roles in his films — for example, Shraddha Kapoor in Aashiqui 2 and Shabana Azmi in Arth. But I don't want to rush into anything just because he is my father. I know he will have a great script for me." Although the actress may not be in a hurry to work with her father, we list a few Mahesh Bhatt's films that Alia could have done.

Daddy: Mahesh Bhatt's daughter from his first marriage, made her B-Town debut with Daddy, which was directed by the ace filmmaker. The film explores the troubled life of an alcoholic father who is distanced from his daughter and how fate brings them together. Through his daughter's support, he overcomes his habit and he also saves her from getting molested. Anupam Kher and Pooja Bhatt's portrayal of a father and daughter's relationship on the silver screen did wonders for the film and it went on to win two Filmfare Awards and a National Award. Alia being Bhatt's younger daughter, would have done wonders too. She may be only a few films old but she has the spark that her older sister Pooja had. Besides, she has the ability as an actress to convincingly play this part, apart from the fact that she also slightly resembles Pooja. With her father directing her in this emotional story, Alia would have been able to understand the emotions well and play it out perfectly on the silver screen. She would have been a better choice.

Sangharsh: While Preity Zinta did a wonderful job in Sangharsh, Alia would have done an equally good job. Like Preity, she's cute, bubbly and petite. Her films, Student of the Year, Highway and 2 States won her a lot of acclaim. In a tragic love story of Sangharsh, Preity played the role of a CBI officer and though the film did not do wonders at the BO, it won the actress a lot of acclaim. Similarly, Alia who has done lighter roles till now, would do this role with a lot of style and oomph, yet retaining the seriousness required out of a CBI officer. It would be a spectacle to watch Alia chase a religious fanatic with the help of a professor and finally succeed in her mission. An in depth performance is just what Alia needs right now!

Murder: Alia is bold and beautiful and can perhaps be more gutsy than Mallika Sherawat in a classy way. Mallika played a seductress in Mahesh Bhatt's Murder. Although Bhatt co-produced this film with his brother Mukesh Bhatt, it was directed by Anurag Basu. Murder was inspired by the Hollywood flick Unfaithful. Mallika's character is a lonely housewife who starts an affair with her college love. But things take an ugly turn when her husband finds out and her lover starts to blackmail them. There were many bold scenes in the film which only Mallika could have done, but Alia trying to fit into her shoes would have been something to watch out for. Alia would have certainly given it that extra edge with her killer looks and a body she flaunts happily (remember her yellow bikini from SOTY?). The bubbly Alia has done more romcoms. So it will be fun to see her doing something so daring as an erotic thriller with all the sensual scenes. The film did well at the box office and two more movies followed - Murder 2 and Murder 3.

Gangster: This intense love triangle was another good film from the Bhatt camp. Starring Kangana Ranaut, Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja, Kangana plays girlfriend to gangster Day (Shiney Ahuja) and falls under the trap of detective Aakash (Emraan Hashmi). Kangana did a fab job in her debut film and went on to win many awards, including the Filmfare Best Debut Female award. Imagining Alia doing something so intense and crazy would be a delight for her fans as they have seen her play roles that are suitable to her age and more of romantic comedies. But she proved her mettle with Highway and received praises from one and all, including her father. Alia's forte is romance and in this intense story, she would have done full justice to the character. While Kangana has the craziness in her performances, there is something cool about Alia which would have made her one Gangster girlfriend to watch out for!

Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin: This was one of the cutest love stories in Bollywood. Pooja Bhatt and Aamir Khan's pairing in this Mahesh Bhatt directorial was a rare treat for fans. Pooja plays a rich heiress who runs away from home to marry a greedy film star. But on the way, she meets a smart journalist and ends up falling in love with him. Alia is known to play a girl in love and being bratty comes naturally to her. Like her sister Pooja in the film, Alia too can play the spoilt brat who runs away from home and who better to compliment her than actor Varun Dhawan. They were cute in SOTY!

Jism: This erotic thriller portrayed the on-screen chemistry between former couple Bipasha Basu and John Abraham. The former love birds and models made this film a smashing hit and their bold scenes and intimacy set the audiences' imagination on fire. Jism received a lot of accolades and John made his Bollywood debut with this film. Jism was produced by Pooja Bhatt and the story and screenplay wre written by Mahesh Bhatt. While Alia is known to play the cute little girl everybody loves, to do something as challenging as what Bips did in Jism would be a far cry from what she has done so far. It will certainly be a challenge for Alia to play a cheating money scheming wife who has an extra marital affair with a poor, alcoholic lawyer. It requires a certain maturity to play this character and though Alia is only 21, age really doesn't matter in this profession, especially when you love acting. She's proved her talent with Highway and while Bips is known for her sexiness, Alia is sexily cute and would have added some innocence to her performance that perhaps Bips lacked. Everything about this film was a hit and Bipasha and John carried it entirely on their shoulders. While we wonder who could fill John's shoes if Alia was cast in it, she would certainly have to impress daddy Bhatt. According to a report in Indian Express, Alia Bhatt has described her father as someone who is difficult to impress. It will be interesting to see if Alia can live up to her father's expectations by doing one of his films!
