Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor films you should not miss

B-town is usually heard saying, “It’s a small industry,” and indeed it is. Actors turn foes from friends and also mend their relations within years. Sometimes they work with each other year after year while sometimes it takes years to see them work together. Something similar has happened with Bollywood’s two great actors, Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor. There were days when these two actors worked together in almost every other film. However, eventually, the number of films that they did together decreased with passing time. Now they are all set to come together once again in their upcoming venture ‘102 Not Out’ after 27 years. Here we take a look at films of the actors together that is a must watch for their fans.

 ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’

The characters, Akbar and Anthony are still fresh in our minds. Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor in this Manmohan Desai’s film portrayed brothers, who were separated in childhood and adopted by families of different faith. Religion being the base of the movie, it got connected with the Indian audience and with the execution and star-studded cast, the film turned to be one of the cult films of Bollywood. In the movie, there is also a song featuring Big B and Rishi Kapoor. The film did well at the ticket window and was considered as highest grossing Bollywood film at the Indian box-office for the year 1977.

 ‘Coolie’

Post the success of multi-starrer films like ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Naseeb’, Rishi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan were seen together yet again in Manmohan Desai’s ‘Coolie’. While Big B played the lead, Rishi Kapoor featured in the film in a supporting role. Though there were times when their relationship became strained, it was on the sets of ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ that the ice between the two actors broke. Also, Rishi Kapoor was also reportedly seen nursing Big B when the latter was injured on the sets of ‘Coolie’ while doing an action sequence.

‘Kabhie Kabhie’

Yash Chopra’s ‘Kabhie Kabhie’ is another film where Rishi and Amitabh worked together. Though they didn’t share much screen space in the film, they were part of the same film. For the uninitiated, Rishi Kapoor was not keen on doing the film, but he was the only choice for Yash Chopra to play the character of ‘Vicky’. Due to some other commitments, Rishi Kapoor had to wrap up his shoot in two days. It was Yash Chopra’s ‘Kabhi Kabhie’ that brought the two stalwarts together for the first time. The bond became so strong that even after years Big B and Rishi Kapoor are seen celebrating the films’ success through social media. Recently, they celebrated glorious 40 years of ‘Kabhie Kabhie’.

Other movies together

Apart from these major movies, Big B and Rishi Kapoor were seen together in other films like ‘Om Shanti Om’, ‘Delhi 6’, Ajooba, Chala Murari Hero Banne, ‘Dosti Dushmani’ and ‘Mehrunisa’. Whatever may be their differences in the past, the duo has the charisma to hold the audience. Though both the actors have different personalities, they have their own distinct peculiarities that make them stand apart and shine. And this is the reason why the film has the audience’s special attention.
