While the B-town beauties are making India proud at the Cannes red carpet with their glamorous appearances, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has joined the fraternity at the French Riviera, but as his character Manto. The actor plays the title role of the famous short story writer Saadat Hasan Manto in the film ‘Manto’ which has been written, co-produced and directed by actress-turned-filmmaker Nandita Das.
The man in demand shared his stylish first glimpse from the festival along with the caption, “Here I am, getting dressed to impress. He attended the official screening of the film with the team including co-star Divya Dutta who chose a beautiful crème silk sari for the occasion, Rasika Dugal who sizzled in a beige gown, director Nandita Das who chose a baby pink sari and was also joined by his ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ co-star Huma Qureshi who looked gorgeous in a beige gown.

Actress Nandita Das's second directorial 'Manto', starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Rasika Dugal, has been selected for competition in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival 2018. This will be the film’s premiere as the release date for India has not been released yet. The film chronicles the life of writer Saadat Hassan Manto whose ideas and writings were quite forward for his times and can still be classified under the same category.

The actor was spotted as he landed at Nice, France. Nawaz will be present for the screening of the film at the French Riviera. Reportedly, the film's teaser is all set to release in India today.

Recently, Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui was allegedly accused of spying on his wife and his name cropped up after the police in Thane nabbed 11 persons, mainly private detectives, who were involved in the Call Detail Records scam.

However, he took to his social media accounts to rubbish all such allegations.

And now, his wife Aaliya has come out in his support. She took to Facebook to share her angst. She wrote, “Kal se media mein jo bhi news chal rahi hain, usey dekhkar Nawaz ke saath, main khud hairaan hoon. Pichhle kai samay se mere aur Nawaz ke baare mein kai tarah ki baatein media mein aati rahi hain, jinmein divorce se lekar Humaare saath na rahne jaisi kai baate kahi gai….. lekin kal se jo news circulate ho rahi hai…. wo hum dono ke liye shocking waali rahi aur mazboor hokar mujhe aaj apni khamoshi ko todna pada….

Nawazuddin Siddiqui was recently summoned for investigations by the Thane city police related to Thane CDR case. Reportedly, he was spying on his wife through private detectives and also acquired her call detail records.

However, in his latest Instagram post, he called all such rumours as "random allegations". The actor who was at her daughter's science exhibition in the school was questioned by the media for the same. He then took to his social media accounts to rubbish all such allegations.

Sharing the pictures from the exhibition, he said, "Last evening, I was helping my daughter to prepare her school project Hydroelectric Power Generator & went to her school this morning for Project Exhibition. To my surprise, the media had questions about some random allegations on me #Disgust".

The actor has reportedly failed to appear before the police for the investigations.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui's book, 'An Ordinary Life: A Memoir', was under the spotlight even before it could reach bookshelves. First, his 'Miss Lovely' co-star Niharika Singh lashed out at him, after he documented their affair without her consent. Later, his first girlfriend Sunita Rajwar, took to Facebook to pen a note on how Nawaz's book was a bunch of “extraordinary lies”.
A police case was also filed against the actor. After a volley of criticisms, the actor decided to withdraw the book. Apologising for hurting sentiments, he announced on Twitter, “I m apologising 2 every1 who's sentiments r hurt bcz of d chaos around my memoir #AnOrdinaryLife. I hereby regret & decide 2 withdraw my book.

Former beauty queen Niharika Singh had to share a lip lock with Nawazuddin Siddiqui in her film 'Miss Lovely', and that became the talk of the town then. Nawaz was apparently really nervous about kissing the beauty, and according to reports, the latter even handed him a breath freshener before they came close.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui allegedly had an affair with Sunita Rajwar before becoming romantically involved with Niharika Singh. Both of them were enrolled in National School of Drama. The actor, in his memoir, had said that he was in a relationship with Sunita and that one day she just returned from her parents' home and called off their relationship. He claimed that he was devastated and even had suicidal thoughts. However, Sunita claimed all this to be a "lie". She reportedly sent him a legal notice and asked for a compensation of Rs 2 crore for allegedly attempting to damage her image.

It’s a known fact that the Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’ was initially supposed to have Chitrangda Singh cast opposite the actor. However, it was reported that Chitrangda left the film midway citing discomfort shooting intimate scenes with her co-star Nawazuddin. When the actress was asked to give a retake on the intimate scene with Nawaz, she allegedly refused to do it and barged out of the sets. Nawaz, however, supported the filmmaker and called Kushan a decent man and that he was incapable of such crass behaviour.

Ever since the talks of the biopic on Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray surfaced, rumours were rife that Nawazuddin Siddiqui is being considered for the coveted role. However, following the whole controversy surrounding his book, gossip mills were abuzz about a possible ousting of Siddiqui from the proposed film in talks. According to reports, Shiv Sena, who was considering Nawazuddin for the role of Bal Thackeray in his upcoming biopic, had second thoughts about the actor. Contrary to the reports, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut clarified stating that "Nawaz (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) was the only choice". Directed by Abhijit Panse, the film will be shot in Hindi, Marathi and dubbed in English. It is slated for release on January 23, 2019.
