The makers of ‘Tumbbad 2’ are reportedly going all out to create a much grander cinematic experience for the sequel to the acclaimed folk-horror film ‘Tumbbad’. Headlined and produced by Sohum Shah, the upcoming project is currently being mounted on an enormous scale, featuring extensive crowd sequences, elaborate production design and large logistical operations across multiple cities. The sequel also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and is directed by Adesh Prasad.

Makers of ‘Tumbbad 2’ to build a giant immersive set in Mumbai

According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter India, the film is presently being shot on a sprawling custom-built set in Mumbai, designed to recreate a deeply atmospheric and realistic world. The team is reportedly aiming to make the setting feel alive rather than resembling a traditional studio-controlled environment. The reports also state that the makers have mounted one of the most elaborate, unparalleled crowd-driven environments seen for an Indian film in recent years. Nearly 1,600 crew members and junior artists are involved in making a massive sequence designed to feel like a living and breathing marketplace instead of a usual controlled film set.Given the enormous scale of the production and the large number of people involved, the team reportedly had to implement major operational systems to maintain smooth shooting conditions. Reports suggest that the makers installed nearly 1,000 tons of air conditioning along with industrial-grade exhaust systems to ensure proper ventilation and temperature management inside the packed shooting floors.
According to the reports, to facilitate such huge requirements, resources had to be brought from different places, vendors and cities. The idea is to make the world feel as authentic and immersive as possible while ensuring operational efficiency during the shoot. The visual ambition of ‘Tumbbad 2’ has reportedly required collaboration with several specialised lighting and rigging teams from different parts of the country. The makers are said to be paying close attention to the film’s atmospheric detailing and scale to match the eerie visual identity that made the original film so popular among audiences. The sequel is being backed by Sohum Shah Films in association with Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Studios. Following the cult success of ‘Tumbbad’, expectations surrounding the sequel remain extremely high, with fans eager to revisit the dark mythological world established in the first film.
