Hindi remake of Tamil film ‘Kalyana Samayal Saadham’

Director R.S. Prasanna called ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ a “spiritual remake” of his 2013 film ‘Kalyana Samayal Saadham’ which starred Prasanna and Lekha Washington in the lead roles. The original Tamil film opened to unanimously positive reviews all over and proved to be a commercial success at the box-office as well. It remains to be seen if the Hindi remake garners a similar reaction from the audiences.

Ayushmann Khurrana is back to the matters of manhood

The actor who marked his Bollywood debut with ‘Vicky Donor’ – a film about a sperm donor’s struggles, is back to tell a story of a man coping with erectile dysfunction. Both the films deal with men’s issues that have never been touched upon in Hindi films, and present the serious problems with an air of comic relief. Ayushmann’s ‘Vicky Donor’ was a sleeper hit in 2012, and also proved to work like a great launchpad for the actor-singer as he picked up two Filmfare Awards; one under the Best Male Debut category, and the other for Best Playback Singer – Male.

Imran Khan reportedly approached for the lead role

Much before Ayushmann was finalized as the leading man for the film, it was rumoured that the makers had someone else on their mind for the part. According to reports, ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’ actor Imran Khan was earlier attached to play the lead in the Bollywood remake of ‘Kalyana Samayal Saadham’, before the plan was dropped and later Ayushmann made his way to the part opposite Bhumi Pednekar.
