Babul Supriyo recalls how Himesh Reshammiya’s rise 'shattered' his career after 'Hum Tum': 'Everything went away in a flash'
Singer-politician Babul Supriyo candidly discussed the forces that derailed his Bollywood career, from shifting musical trends to being repeatedly overlooked for National Awards, in a revealing conversation. While acknowledging Reshammiya's phenomenal work, Supriyo was clear-eyed about the personal cost of that industry shift.
In the same conversation, Babul Supriyo did not hold back when describing the emotional toll of watching a promising career unravel. "If I say that I didn't lose anything because of those types of songs, then I'll be a hypocrite. After 'Hum Tum,' people around me cheered that my career would take off. But instead, it just went downhill as I went through the worst phase after that. It was really painful," he said.
On the question of bad politics in the industry, Supriyo chose to take the high road. "There's some bad politics, too, but I won't talk about it." He expressed that if it weren't for the industry, he wouldn't have gotten this platform to discuss what went wrong.
