Bollywood musicians have taken to the work-from-home mode in a big way and are literally creating records with it. Take the case of the composer duo, Salim-Sulaiman.
The musicians have just finished working on an entire album, virtually, during the nation-wide lockdown.
Says Salim, "We used a software that helps to connect directly to the main computer.
So, Aftab, my sound engineer, used to play the songs on his computer from his home studio in Andheri and Sulaiman and I would hear it live without any compromised sound. We would video-chat with him to increase, decrease or change a certain beat, tone or tempo. And in this way we mixed and completed the entire album virtually."
What helped to complete the upcoming folk-electronica album is that the duo had recorded songs with top singers like Arijit Singh,
Shreya Ghoshal,
Sukhwinder Singh, Jonita Gandhi, Grammy Award-winner Vishawa Mohan Bhatt among others, last year.
"Twenty years ago, Sulaiman and I worked on an album called 'Bhoomi' and now, we are coming out with 'Bhoomi 2020'," says Salim.
The composer duo who have given us some of the most melodious numbers in Bollywood including102 Not Out (2018), Kurbaan (2009), Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008). Fashion (2008), Chak De! India (2007), Dor (2005), Neal 'n' Nikki (2005) to name a few have made the most of the lockdown period by working from home and creating some more great music.
