A Bengali boy whose tunes are part of your play list, Arjit Singh. Even if Aashiqui 2 (2013) brought fame, playback singer is struggling to build career since last decade. The star has no filmy background or godfather but his mother being trained in Indian classical singing and tabla gave him early lessons of singing. His entry in Fame Gurukul , a reality TV music show gave him the first platform to showcase his talent. He lost the competition, but the jury who included composer Shankar Mahadevan appraised him for his astounding versatility.

It can surely be termed as one of the best songs of Arjit till date form the movie City lights. This is basically a guiter song which fuses with Bengali folk idiom and has a smooth touch of Sufism. One can easily notice the soothing piano with violin. The song undoubtedly topped the chart for more than 15 weeks on almost all radio channels. The movie successfully bagged the 7th Mirchi Music Award of 2015 for Upcoming Lyricist of the Year and Song of the Year (Listener's Choice). Bodrul Chaudhury from Bolly Spice criticized the song by saying "to be a little too bland" for his liking.

A song from the movie 2 States which was released in April 2014. It was sung by Arjit along with Chinmayi Sripada. The genre of the song is romantic yet young energetic. Just in its first week the song had a direct entry at position 10 in The Times of India Mirchi Top 20 Chart. The song earned critical acclamation by Sankhayan Ghosh from The Indian Express found the chorus of the song “wonderful” though criticized for having an “uncanny resemblance with Ishq Sufiyana” from The Dirty Picture (2011). Aishwarya from Koimoi stated the song "does not bore you or even sound repetitive" and felt, Singh's vocals resembles of Shafqat Amanat Ali in the song.

Yet another hit from Aashiqui 2 movie which was sung by Arjit Singh, and composed by Mithoon Sharma. This song got popularity as it topped the charts for almost 10 weeks and also helped further the film’s promotions. The songs features Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. It bagged awards like Big Star Most Entertaining Song (2013) and Song of The Year (2014) - Zee Cine Awards.

Murder 2 is a 2011 Indian psychological thriller film. The movie starred Emraan Hashmi, Jacqueline Fernandez and Prashant Narayanan in leading roles, with Sulagna Panigrahi featuring in a pivotal role. The song was sung by Mohammad Irfan Ali, Arijit Singh and Saim Bhat and it was composed by Mithoon.‘Phir mohabbat’ from Murder 2 was one of the top songs of the year. After the success of the first two instalments, the producers had released a third film Murder 3.

Yet another hit by Arjit Singh is ‘Raabta’ was one of the best songs from Agent Vinod. While the film was banned before its release in 2012, it was alleged that the songs like ‘Aasmaan pe hai…,’ ‘Meri jaan…’ and ‘Rakamma’ were plagiarised. Indian action spy film starred Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles. The film's soundtrack has been composed by Pritam.
