​5 films rejected by Shah Rukh Khan​

There are certain things that even a king can’t have. In his long list of films, there have been occasions when he couldn't be part of which then went on to become super hits. Here are some of the films that were rejected by the Badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan.

It was a casting coup Shah Rukh Khan was coming together with Vidhu Vinod Chopra for a film to be directed by a newcomer named Rajkumar Hirani. SRK was gung ho about the project, was even creatively involved in the scripting of the film but had to bow out of the film because of his back surgery. He had even recommended Aishwarya Rai for the film as the leading lady.

After the Munnabhai series, Shah Rukh Khan was again approached by Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra, this time for 3 Idiots. But once again things didn't work. Post the success of the film, he famously called himself the 4 idiot to reject the film. But Hirani and SRK are finally coming together for Dunki, hoping it is worth the wait for the two cinematic giants.

Ashutosh Gowarikar took the script of Lagaan to SRK before Aamir came on board as an actor and also as a producer. In fact it was Shah Rukh who suggested that Ashutosh take the script to SRK, the film went to become extremely successful and was only the third Indian film to be nominated for Oscars.

Would you believe that Rajnikant was not the first choice for this one. SRK was first offered this film but due to creative differences between him and director Shankar talks broke down. The film was revived only when Rajnikant came on board.

Danny Boyle had offered the all time role of the quizmaster to SRK in Slumdog Millionaire, but it seems he didn't like the role much. Talking about the same, SRK said, "I didn’t do it because the host is a little bit of a cheat, and he was a little mean, and I’d already done the show so I felt if I do it people will feel I do the same thing. It was a great film,"
