Known for their powerhouse performances, the quartet has not only dominated the music scene but has also made strides in fashion, acting, and garnered numerous accolades.
One of the most legendary films in cinematic history, ‘Mean Girls’, is renowned for its classic scenes that have become ingrained in pop culture.
BLACKPINK has previously paid homage to the movie by covering its iconic Christmas dance scene, putting their own unique spin on the legendary choreography.
As anticipation builds for the new adaptation of ‘Mean Girls’, choreographer Kyle Hanagami, responsible for crafting some of K-Pop's most memorable dances, including BLACKPINK's ‘Kill This Love’ and Red Velvet's ‘Ice Cream Cake’, revealed the influence of the K-Pop sensations on the film's choreography. Speaking to the press ahead of the movie's release, Kyle highlighted the Christmas dance scene, emphasizing that, like BLACKPINK, the new scene features four girls. Recognizing that the majority of the audience for the reboot grew up watching BLACKPINK since their debut in 2016, Kyle acknowledged the group's impact on the new generation of performers and actors.
"When I was choreographing the Christmas dance, I was like, ‘Let’s put a little bit of like inspiration from BLACKPINK in there.’ So, it’s definitely kind of inspired by some of the work I’ve done for other artists because it’s influenced the new generation of performers and actors", shared Kyle Hanagami.
As news of BLACKPINK's influence on the reboot circulated, netizens expressed their excitement over the prospect of seeing the group's impact on such an iconic movie remake. With the stage set for the film's release, fans eagerly anticipate spotting the unmistakable touch of BLACKPINK's influence in this new iteration of the beloved ‘Mean Girls’ tale.
