Debutant director Krish Joshi’s Parapancha, produced by Yogaraj Films, releases today. The film stars Diganth, Ragini Dwivedi, Anant Nag and Yogaraj Bhat, among others, in pivotal roles, with much of the action happening at the family bar and restaurant: Parapancha — Veg & Non-Veg. “The film is very unconventional, yet sticks to commercial parameters. It is the tale of not one, but several interesting characters, and their stories have pertinent social messages, each told in an entertaining fashion,” says Krish.Considering that the film is set in a bar-cum-restaurant, the director has his lead stars — Ragini and Diganth — work as a dancer/call girl and waiter, respectively. Interestingly, the duo is not romantically linked in the film and play best friends who support each other through thick and thin. “Audiences may expect Ragini’s character to be loud and gaudy, but we have explored another facet to the character to show people that there is more to her than meets the eye,” he says, to which Ragini adds, “This is a character that every woman will relate to and the story follows a simple concept that your first impression should not be the only perception you make of a person. The film explores just how judgmental society is, based on the first impression it has of a person. Each character in the film is unique and provides multiple stories within one tale.”
Krish adds that Yogaraj’s character, who is a sutradar of sorts, is one to look out for, as is Anant, whose poetic banter as a guru will be a treat.
