Dilip Kumar's passing has set in a sense of despair and sadness among the actor's many million admirers. Having been a source of inspiration to many actors from the subsequent generations, his absence is being felt with great intensity, and for actor
Sharan especially, the departure is evident as the end of a most glorious era. As someone who grew up in a household of Dilip Kumar's admirers, Sharan has had a strong bond with the thespian and held this singular, lifelong desire of getting a picture clicked with him before it's too late.
"I feel that with him now gone, my lifelong wish of a photograph remains unfulfilled. I had, in fact, brought this up with my wife just about a week ago when Dilip Ji was hospitalized that he should go on to live as long as possible and that I am able to click a photograph with him. But the sadder part is that his demise marks an end of such a glorious era - I mean, can you imagine he began his acting career in the '40s, only about a decade after the talkies began, and he has seen pretty much everything change over the years. That reminder of a person of his stature not being around is very saddening to me," laments Sharan as he reflects on the day and how, because of the sad news, he feels weighed down.

And Sharan is no ordinary fan in this case. Right from his visit to the VCR store as a young teenager in his pursuit to watch 'Madhumati' to him vividly recounting very specific portions from films like 'Ram Aur Shyam' and others, there is so much that Sharan has to share about Dilip Kumar. "By the time I was in my teens, Dilip Ji had already gone past his glory days and was essaying aged roles mostly - like 'Saudagar', 'Karma', and 'Shakti'. But I had heard and seen so much admiration for him among my family members that he was a hero for me right from the beginning. And the joy of watching 'Madhumati' for the first time is unforgettable for me, I remember each song, scene, and moment from the film even today," adds the 'Avatara Purusha' actor who cites Dilip Kumar's comedy bits in 'Ram Aur Shyam' to be one of his best performances.
The phrase "end of an era", sometimes, gets thrown around very easily but one would concur that Dilip Kumar's passing is truly just that. "There are a few individuals whose work speaks so much that they transcend age and other boundaries and Dilip Ji's work is exactly that. And it's hard to find such icons again in our lifetimes - Dr. Rajkumar was able to do that with his body of work right from 'Bedara Kannappa'," shares Sharan who also states that, if given a chance at any point, he would love to remake 'Madhumati' and star in the lead role!
On the work front, Sharan has an array of exciting projects in the pipeline including the two-part film 'Avatara Purusha'. Sharan will star in a one-of-a-kind role in the film and with the film currently in the post-production stage, his fans can expect the treat to come sooner than later. He is also getting busy with his upcoming production venture 'Guru Shishyaru' in which he stars in the lead role - the team is about to enter the new schedule of shooting soon.
