Deepika, who has completed her engineering, wanted to work in ISRO, but she found her calling in showbiz. “I never thought that I would venture into acting. I used to get plenty of offers for auditions through social media pages, and that’s how I got this opportunity,” she says.
Deepika is excited about her debut film, and it shows in the way she speaks about it. “It’s my first movie, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I attended an acting workshop which was conducted by the team, and that helped me to get into the skin of the character. As a nurse, I needed to speak Kannada with Malayalam influence, and that required some training. I got to work with a wonderful in my first film itself. It was a great learning experience as I got to share screen space with
Guruprasad sir, who gave me invaluable insights into acting,” she says.
The actress already has two other films in her kitty -- Aamara Premi Arun and Aura. “In Amara Premi Arun, I have spoken in the North Karnataka dialect, and in Aura I have rendered dialogues in Udupi Kannada, which presented different challenges. I am enjoying the roles that I am getting, because I am not sticking to any particular genre,” she sums up.
