The film delivers effective jump scares and slow-building tension. ETimes review for the film reads, "Kasthuri Mahala tries to keep everyone on the edge of seat with its suspense and thriller elements, but falls flat for major portions. A flagging storyline combines with a conventional narration and limited characters that deny it pace, twists and turns. The film fails to evoke any interest, except for a few moments during the climax."
It is available in 2K and 4K on YouTube (SRS Media Vision channel) and also streams on Hungama and Airtel Xstream.
Even newer entries like 'Kasturi Mahal', show that Sandalwood is still experimenting with horror while staying true to its roots. Several other additions to this lists are 'Mane Number 13', 'Namasthe Ghost', and 'Ondh Kathe Hella'.
