Love stories are about a genuine moment that the audience can experience: Hemanth M Rao

Love conquers all, believes director Hemanth M Rao Sapta Sagaradaache Ello (SSE) sees him collaborating with actor Rakshit Shetty for the second time after Godi Banna Sadharana Maikattu.

Sapta Sagaradaache Ello (meaning somewhere beyond the seven oceans), is a line from M Gopalakrishna Adiga’s poem, Yaava Mohana Murali Kareyitu. “The line signifies a certain emotion, which is the core of my film. I have tried to make the film in a poetic manner through visual treatment and music,” explains Hemanth.

Instead of going for the cliched ‘Part -1, Part 2’, the team has chosen Side A and Side B - a term often used with audio cassettes - to tell two parts of the same story. While the audio cassette does play a pivotal role in the film, Hemanth, who considers himself a bit old school, explains, “This film is too big a story to finish in one part. The journey of the characters - Manu, Priya and Surabhi, played by Rakshit Shetty, Rukmini Vasanth and Chaitra J Achar, go through different phases. Side A, which takes off in 2010, explores the relationship between Manu and Priya and how the dynamics change over the course of 10 years. When I started writing, this is where it took me eventually - to two parts.”
