Shashank Purushotham welcomes baby boy with wife Melanie Martinelli

I am in a state of trance,” says film and theatre actor Shashank Purushotham, as he welcomes his baby boy with wife, Melanie Martinelli. Born on August 1, Kiaan is the first child of the couple. “It’s an out-of-the-world magical experience. Nothing can ever come close to the feeling of becoming a father,” shares the actor, confirming that both the mother and son are in good health.
What’s interesting, however, is that the newborn has a certain number in common with his mom and dad.While Shashank was born on June 1, Melanie’s birthday is on December 1 and Kiaan came to this world on August 1, which is also Swiss National Day — his mother’s home country. “He is definitely our lucky charm,” adds Shashank, who has also been attending infant care classes.
Speaking about making preparations at home for the new member of the family, Shashank says, “Yes, we have a new space in the house for the baby. It’s a unisex set up. We didn’t try to find out the gender of the child before birth. There are hardly any surprises in today’s world. And we didn’t want to spoil this one,” the new father sums up.
The actor is currently rehearsing for the late Girish Karnad’s last play, Road to Talikota, which is being helmed by Arjun Sajnani, while he’ll also be seen in Adarsh H Eshwarappa’s next film, Bhinna.
