Sudeep’s heartfelt gift: A Darshana Kendra for mentor Vishnuvardhan
In the aftermath of the outcry over the recent demolition of the Vishnuvardhan Smaraka at Abhiman Studio in Kengeri, the late superstar’s fan association has come together to create a new Darshana Kendra — on land purchased and gifted by actor Sudeep, who fondly calls Vishnuvardhan his mentor.
Spread across half an acre, the centre will be anchored by a striking 25-foot statue of Vishnuvardhan. Around it, a landscaped park will offer fans a space to gather in his name. A library and gallery with rare images and archives will complete the tribute, turning the Kendra into a living space where memories meet meaning.
Organisers have been quick to clarify that the Kendra is not meant to compete with the government-backed Smaraka in Mysuru, but to give Bengaluru’s fans a dedicated place to celebrate their idol. “This is not just a structure, but a heartfelt homage from the fans who continue to keep Dada alive in their hearts,” the association said.
The project has been mapped to dates that carry deep symbolism. The blueprint will be unveiled on September 2, Sudeep’s birthday. Construction will begin on September 18, Vishnuvardhan’s birth anniversary, and the inauguration is planned for the same day in 2026. For countless fans across Karnataka, the Darshana Kendra promises to be more than stone and mortar — it is an enduring reminder that legends never truly leave; they continue to live on in the spaces, stories, and hearts they’ve touched.
K Manju: Abhiman Studio is Vishnuvardhan’s Punya Bhoomi
Kannada film producer and long-time friend of Vishnuvardhan, K Manju remained firm about where he believes the true memorial belongs. “Abhiman Studio is the Punya Bhoomi for all Vishnuvardhan fans, as it is where the late actor was laid to rest. No new memorial can replace that. His fans and I are in talks with the Balakrishna family (of Abhiman Studio), and we will continue to fight for our icon. We hope the discussions remain amicable, but if needed, we are prepared to take legal steps,” he said.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the latest Hindi movies, upcoming Hindi movies in 2026 , and Telugu movies.”
