In the past couple of weeks, Bengaluru has been receiving far more rainfall than has been forecast. So much so that it has been keeping many from venturing out, especially in the evenings, when the thundershowers hit the city. For most filmmakers with their movies in theatres, this would send shivers down their spine, but the team of the Ganesh-starrer Mugulu Nage, produced by SS Films, says that while they feared the worst, audiences have been braving the inclement weather and making a beeline for the movie halls.
“We have been lucky indeed and we are thankful to Kannada audiences that we have been continuing to have over 60% occupancy across movie halls where we have released the film, despite the heavy rains,” says producer
Syed Salam, adding that word-of-mouth publicity has worked for Mugulu Nage. “Audiences are smart and don’t easily get swayed by online reports about a film, whether good or bad. They will try it for themselves or, at the most, listen to the opinions of their near and dear ones. We believe that our audience has realized that there is a good subject in our film,” he says.
As a token of their appreciation for the support audiences have given them, the team, led by director
Yogaraj Bhat, lead actor
Ganesh and Syed, will now traverse across the state. “We are starting with Mysuru this week, after which we will go to Tumkur, Davanagere, Hubballi, Dhwarward, Belagavi and Gulbarga, among others,” adds Syed.
