Upendra to don the role of saint-philosopher Kanakadasa

Director and actor Upendra is set to portray the role of saint and philosopher Kanakadasa in devotional and historical film, which will be helmed by Naganna. The movie brings together Upendra and Naganna for a fifth film.
The duo had previously collaborated for the film Kutumba, Gokarna, Dubai Babu and Gowramma. Speaking to a Kannada regional daily, Naganna has said the movie is predominantly based on the life of Kanakadasa, we have begun research work for the film.Upendra is thrilled to play the never seen before role in his career. He will have a dual shade in the film.
Upendra will get a image make over for the for the film which is set in the 15th century. G K Baaravi has penned the story. While, Hamsalekha is the music director. The team will reveal details about the rest of the star cast shortly.
Meanwhile, Upendra is on the verge of completing the shooting of UI, which marks his return to direction after a long time is likely to release by this year end. He is also sharing screen space with Shivarajkumar in 45, directed by Arjun Janya. He is once again expected to collaborate with R Chandru for Kabzaa 2, which did not meet the expectations of the audiences.
