Adoor Gopalakrishnan honours Padma Bhushan awardee Mammootty on the sets of 'Padyaatra': See PICS
Congratulations are in order for Mammootty, who was conferred with the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award. Iconic filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan honoured Mammootty on the sets of their upcoming Malayalam film ‘Padayaatra’.
The felicitation took place during the shooting break, and Adoor welcomed Mammootty with a bouquet and draped a ceremonial shawl as a mark of respect. On Tuesday, January 27, the makers of ‘Padayaatra’ shared pictures of the warm felicitation that the legendary actor received. In the pictures, Mammootty is also seen cutting the cake and sharing it with his co-stars and crew.

In a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) timeline, Mammootty reflected on the Padma honour. “My gratitude to the Motherland. 'Padma Bhushan'. My heartfelt thanks to the nation, the people, and the Government for honoring me with this civilian honour," Mammootty said.

Starring Mammootty, ‘Padayaatra’ also features Indrans, Grace Antony, Sreeshma Chandran, and Zeenath AP in pivotal roles. The film was launched on January 23.
‘Padayaatra’ marks Adoor Gopalakrishnan and Mammootty’s fourth collaboration. “As the scripting was going on, only Mammootty’s face came to my mind for the central character. I felt that he would be the perfect person for the role. This will be the fourth time he plays the male lead in one of my films. I’ve never worked with any other lead actor that many times,” speaking about the collaboration, Adoor Gopalakrishnan earlier told Manorama News. The Centre announced the Padma Awards 2026 on the eve of Republic Day. Mammootty was conferred with the Padma Bhushan. This is his second Padma Award.
