Kerala actress assault verdict today: 'Ramaleela' driector Arun Gopy posts hopeful message as WCC stands firm in solidarity

With just hours remaining for the crucial verdict in the actress assault and video recording case, director Arun Gopy has come forward with a reflective note on social media.



The 'Ramaleela' director wrote on Facebook, “കഴിഞ്ഞു പോയ അസ്തമയത്തിൽ എനിക്ക് നിരാശയില്ല.. ഇന്നിന്റെ ഉദയത്തിൽ ഞാൻ അത്രമേൽ പ്രത്യാശിക്കുന്നു( I have no disappointment in yesterday’s sunset… because I have that much hope in today’s sunrise).”

'Ramaleela' success amid controversy

The filmmaker’s message has gained attention online due to his long-standing association with actor Dileep, who was arrested in July 2017 in connection with the case. During Dileep's imprisonment, Arun Gopy’s directorial film 'Ramaleela' released in September 2017 and became a major box-office hit despite intense controversy. The movie was scripted by late Sachy.

Fresh trial details surface ahead of judgment

As the courtroom prepares for its most decisive moment, new information from the trial phase has come to light. One of the crucial revelations includes a personal message that Dileep reportedly sent to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on February 22, 2017, just five days after the assault. In the message, the actor is said to have mentioned that he was facing “extreme mental stress” while asserting his innocence.

WCC stands firm in solidarity with the survivor

The Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) has issued a powerful statement ahead of the judgment. Their message read, “This has not been an easy journey.
