'Joseph': Factors that make this movie an interesting watch for the weekend

From the glimpses of what we've seen from the posters, trailers and songs, 'Joseph' looks like a compelling journey through the mind of a wounded man. The movie with a tagline which reads 'a man with a scar' tells the story from the life a police officer who has a tormenting past that intertwines with an investigative track in the parallel. Directed by successful director M Padmakumaran and scripted by Shahi Kabir, the movie has Joju George playing the titular role. The movie is shot mainly in Mundakkayam, Idukki. Let's look at the reasons to watch this police drama that will release across theaters in Kerala on 16th November.

Joju George, a guaranteed actor plays the lead for first time

Joju George who is familiar to the Malayali audience for his memorable supporting roles in movies like 'Luka Chuppi', 'Action Hero Biju', 'Ramante Eden Thottam' etc will be seen playing the lead role for the first time through the movie 'Joseph'. Joju plays the role of a retired police officer who comes out of retirement to help investigate a case. The actor's makeover for the movie looks perfect as Joju has pulled out the tough old and experienced looked of a retired investigative officer with his salt and pepper look. Joju will play three phases of the titular character Joseph in the movie. According to reports, 'Joseph' is a loner whose wife divorced him years ago and he is still finding hard to cope with it.

Direction and script

M Padmakumar who has to his name some acclaimed movies including 'Vasthavam' which won Prithviraj the state award for best actor and other notable movies like Mohanlal starrer 'Shikar' and a segment in the anthology 'Kerala Cafe' is hoping to repeat a box office success through 'Joseph'. Scripted by Shahi Kabir, who is a policeman himself, said in an interview that the story of 'Joseph' is a fictitious one, treated realistically. The scriptwriter has used his personal experience to bring the completeness to the character.

Character study and investigation

According to reports, 'Joseph' is a movie that delves deep into the psyche of the protagonist Joseph who is a psychologically damaged man because of some past incidents in life. The movie will also have an investigative story that's connected with the personal life of Joseph, the protagonist. A police investigative team seeks the help of Joseph- a retired police officer with an abundance of knowledge and experience.According to Shahi Kabir, these are the officers who bring in their unique ideas and experiences to solve some peculiar cases.

Cast and other details

The movie has a strong cast that includes Dileesh Pothan, Soubin Shahir, Malavika Menon, Irshad, Sudhi Koppa. Director Johny Antony will also play an important role in the movie. The technical side of the movie boasts of an excellent crew and the movie is expected to be cinematically engaging. Maneesh Madhavan helms the cinematography department while Kiran Das does the editing. The songs of the movie are composed by Ranjin Das while the background score is composed by Anil Johnson.
