Mammootty wished Ganagandharvan K J Yesudas on his birthday with a special social media post that touched many hearts.On the last day, the megastar shared an old and nostalgic photograph of himself while taking a picture of Yesudas. Along with the photo Mammootty wrote, “Heartfelt birthday wishes to our beloved Dasettan. Fans were quick to react and share the post. Many people felt it was a beautiful moment. One wrote, "Imagine a Kerala without that voice. Malayalam would still have words, but miss the voice that made them feel like home. Happy Birthday to the voice every Malayali grew up with." Another fan wrote, "Photographer and the photograph."

K J Yesudas was born on January 10, 1940. On Saturday (January 10), he turned 86. His voice has been part of people’s lives for many years. He entered Malayalam playback singing through the film 'Kalpadukal'. From there his journey only grew bigger and stronger. Over more than half a century Yesudas sang songs that stayed in hearts. He sang in almost every major Indian language.

Earlier, during the ‘Dasettan at 83’ event held in Kochi in 2023, Mammootty spoke about Yesudas in a very personal way.

The superstar said, “He is two or three years younger than me. I call him Dasetta only as a mark of respect. Many people call me Mammootty. What we are celebrating is not just Dasetta’s birthday alone. We are also celebrating the anniversaries of cinema music and music itself. We do not have music without Dasetta.”A voice that lives with people every dayMammootty continued with words that many people deeply related to. He said, “We do not have even a single day without Dasetta. We cannot go on a journey without him. Wherever we go, he will be humming something or the other. Not even a moment of our lives can pass without Dasetta. That is how deeply he and his voice are woven into our lives.”He also spoke about the reach of Yesudas’ voice. “Maybe the world has heard the Malayalam language the most through Dasetta’s voice. Outside Kerala, people have heard about the Malayalam language and its music mainly through Dasetta’s songs. Even though he has sung in other languages, it is his Malayalam songs that we love to listen to the most.”Meanwhile, Mammootty will be next seen in the most awaited 'Patriot' directed by Mahesh Narayanan. Mammootty has also signed up for a movie with 'Marco' team.
