'Lokah': Writer Santhy Balachandran thanks parents for support; calls herself 'one lucky daughter'

The success of 'Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra' has been a moment of pride not just for the team behind the film but also for its co-screenplay writer and actor Santhy Balachandran. Known for her nuanced performances on screen, Santhy has now taken a moment to express gratitude for the people who have stood by her journey the most—her parents. Sharing a warm snap with her parents on Instagram, Santhy opened up about the struggles and sacrifices that shaped her career in the arts. “I have a lot of people to thank. But none more than my Achan and Amma. They have seen every up and down at close quarters, felt every moment of joy and heartache — possibly even more deeply than I have,” she wrote. Santhy revealed how leaving behind a stable academic path in Oxford for an unpredictable creative career was never easy on her family, but they never stopped believing in her. Reflecting on the recent love for 'Lokah', Santhy admitted that its success meant more to her parents than anyone else. “To watch them feel joy and some measure of relief after all the anxious nights I have given them is the best thing the success of Lokah has given me,” she said. She lovingly thanked them for being her “best cheerleaders,” adding, “For giving me both wings and roots.”Santhy also shared that she is in the middle of rehearsals for Roshan Mathew’s play Bye Bye Bypass, which will be staged on September 6 and 7 at JT PAC.
