Mollywood film producer PV Gangadharan who has bankrolled several popular Malayalam movies, breathed his last on Friday, October 13, at the age of 80. His demise occurred at a private hospital in Kerala, where he had been undergoing treatment for age-related ailments. Gangadharan's contribution to cinema was significant, as he had produced 22 Malayalam films.

Throughout his illustrious career, PV Gangadharan achieved numerous accolades, including two National Film Awards and five Kerala State Film Awards, underscoring his dedication to quality filmmaking. Some of his notable productions included "Angadi" (1980), "Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha" (1989), "Kattathe Kilikkoodu" (1983), "Vartha" (1986), "Kaanaakkinaavu" (1996), "Thooval Kottaram" (1996), "Adhwaytham" (1992), "Ennu Swantham Janakikutty" (1998), "Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal" (2000), "Achuvinte Amma" (2005), and "Notebook" (2006), among many others. His most recent film was "Janaki Jane" (2023).

PV Gangadharan's influence extended beyond film production, as he played a crucial role in various industry organizations. He served as the founding president of the International Film Producers Association (FIAPF) and held positions as the chairman of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation, president of the Film Federation of India, president of the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, and president of the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce. His contributions to society were not limited to cinema, as he even contested in the 2011 Assembly elections. He was a member of the All Indian Congress Committee and an active Kerala Students Union member during his college days.
PV Gangadharan is survived by his wife P V Sherien, and three children, Shenuga Jaythilak, Shegna Vigil, and Sherga Sandeep.PV Gangadharan’s funeral will be held after allowing the public to pay their respects at the Town Hall, and his memory will continue to be cherished by the Malayalam film industry.
