Mollywood celebs who entered wedlock in 2020

Not many would want to remember the year 2020 the rest of their lives. With the pandemic scare, lockdowns and more that it brought along, there was hardly anything to cherish about it. But, for a handful of Mollywood celebs, the year offered something great amid all the glum – their life partner. Despite restrictions and scares, many in M-Town walked down the aisle this year. Here are a few couples among them who grabbed headlines on their D-day.

In the month of January, Nivedyam fame Bhama got hitched to businessman Arun in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony held at Kottayam. Bhama wore a red Kancheepuram saree, coupled with some pretty antique temple jewellery. Arun also looked dapper in an off-white embellished kurta and dhoti. The duo exchanged rose garlands with the blessings of their family and friends. As the function was held before the onset of Covid – 19 scare, it was also attended by many from the industry.

Actress Miya married businessman Ashwin Philip on September 12, in Kochi. The wedding was held at St. Mary’s Basilica Church in Ernakulam. It was a simple wedding adhering to Covid – 19 restrictions, post the engagement, bridal shower functions which were held in the previous weeks. Miya wore a gown of vanilla-shade for her wedding. Her man, Ashwin, also looked handsome in his dark-blue wedding suit.

It’s in the month of April that actor Chemban Vinod Jose married Mariam Thomas, a psychologist from Kottayam. It was the second wedding of the actor, and the ceremony was attended only by close family members due to the lockdown. It’s only when he posted a photo with his new bride, captioning it ‘Just Married,’ did many know that the actor has entered wedlock. The industry was quick to wish them luck and happiness, as well. Going by the pictures, the couple stuck to a simple look for their wedding, though they both wore matching bluish-green outfits for the day.

Singer-actor Siddharth Menon married Marathi TV actress Tanvi Palav in the month of February. The duo, who were dating for long, were lucky enough to celebrate their D-day the month before the lockdown was announced, and had their dear and near with them. There were many colourful North-Indian style ceremonies that added colour to their beautiful wedding. Siddharth also posted on his social media page that he is marrying his best friend, Tanvi and their love story is his favourite. Their pictures from the ceremony did rounds on social media for long, after the wedding.

‘Ayal Njanalla’ fame Mrudula Murali married her boyfriend Nitin Vijay on October 29. The couple, who were engaged in December, last year, got married in the presence of their close friends and family. Mrudula’s bright golden saree and Nitin’s matching kurta had made their wedding-day look all bright and perfect, according to her social media followers. Many also noted that the actress hardly wore any gold for the occasion, as opposed to conventions. The function was held in Kochi.

Drishyam fame actor Roshan Basheer married his ladylove Furzana Anub in the month of August. Furzana, who is related to Mollywood megastar Mammootty, is a law student. The couple got engaged in the month of July this year. In the viral photos posted by Roshan, he can be seen looking stylish in a formal black suit. Furzana, who wore a red lehenga, teamed it up with matching jewellery.

‘Punyalan Agarbattis’ fame Jimbruttan also walked out of bachelorhood in style, this year. Actor Gokulan, who has been part of many hit films, married his long-time girlfriend Dhanya in the month of May, this year. The low-key ceremony was held at a temple in Ernakulam, in the presence of close relatives and parents. Gokulan wore a Kerala kasavu mundu and white kurta for the wedding, while Dhanya chose a pink bridal saree. Their customised masks for the ceremony had also won fans after the wedding.

Yet another Mollywood actor who opted for a simple, lockdown wedding was ‘Kammattipadam’ fame Manikandan R Achari. The actor married Anjaly at a temple in Thripunithura in the month of April. He also famously handed over the amount that was set aside for the wedding function to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Reportedly, the couple was engaged in the month of November in 2019. Their wedding was attended only by their close family members.

^{Bigg Boss Malayalam fame Pradeep Chandran also got hitched soon after coming out of the show, that got cancelled due to the Covid – 19 scare. In the month of July, he married a Trivandrum-based techie, Anupama Ramachandran. Their wedding had a traditional Hindu ceremony, and was attended only by close family members. Pradeep wore a cream kasavu mundu and shirt to the wedding, while his bride wore a red kasavu saree. His friends and fans joined the occasion through a live video broadcast through Pradeep’s social media page.}
