‘My gratitude to the Motherland’: Mammootty reflects on Padma Bhushan win

Mammootty, who was conferred the Padma Bhushan on Sunday, January 25, has reflected on the win. This is his second Padma Award. The superstar was awarded the Padma Shri in 1998. Mammootty was awarded the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award, for his contribution to art.

In a note shared on his X (formerly Twitter) timeline, Mammootty expressed gratitude to the nation for the honour. “My gratitude to the Motherland. 'Padma Bhushan'. My heartfelt thanks to the nation, the people, and the Government for honoring me with this civilian honour. Republic Day Wishes to everyone," Mammootty wrote on X.

Mammootty on the Kerala State Film Award win

Mammootty was awarded the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for ‘Bramayugam’. The award was presented by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in a ceremony held on Sunday, January 25. In a note shared on Facebook, Mammootty expressed that he is ‘honoured’ to receive the prestigious award. “Honoured to receive the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for Bramayugam from the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri.Pinarayi Vijayan and Shri Saji Cherian, Minister for Cultural Affairs. My sincere thanks to the Government of Kerala, the jury, and everyone who has supported me on this journey,” the superstar penned.

What’s next for Mammootty?

Mammootty’s recent outing was ‘Kalamkaval’, which is now streaming online. He also appeared in a cameo role in the recently released film ‘Chatha Pacha’. Mammootty will be next seen in ‘Patriot’, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan. Mammootty is reuniting with Mohanlal for the film, after a while. The upcoming Malayalam film also has Nayanthara, Fahadh Faasil, and Kunchacko Boban in pivotal roles. The makers have confirmed that the film will hit the big screens on April 23.

Meanwhile, Mammootty will be next filming for Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s directorial ‘Padayaatra’. The film’s title was launched on January 23. ‘Padayaatra’ marks Mammootty and Adoor Gopalakrishnan's fourth collaboration. They are reuniting 32 years after ‘Vidheyan’.
