A few days ago, we had written about director-scriptwriter Sreejith doing a
Biju Menon film based on G R Indugopan’s short story Amminipilla Vettu Case.
The team has now revealed that in the movie, which has Biju Menon playing Amminipilla, Padmapriya has been roped in to play his wife’s character. She will essay the role of Rukmini, who is a bold woman, says Sreejith.
Titled Oru Thekken Thallu Case, the film’s story is set in Kerala in the 1980s.
Sreejith tells us, “Everyone who is familiar with Indugopan’s stories know that he gives tremendous importance to women. This one is no different, and its characters have a lot of screen space,” Padmapriya, who was seen last in the anthology film Crossroad released in 2017, was given a narration over a video call for this film, says Sreejith. “We were in the search for an actress who can shoulder a strong character like Rukmini believably enough, and felt Padmapriya would be the right fit. Due to the current restrictions, we met her over a conference call. She liked the story and agreed to do it,” he says. The movie also has Nimisha Sajayan playing a role named
Vasanthi and Roshan Mathews as Podiyan Pillai.
Sreejith, who is also the scriptwriter of Bro Daddy, says that this will be a period film with a difference. “Generally, period movies have stories based in history, but here, we will be designing it as a commercial entertainer. It’s an experiment and will be a challenge,” he says. The makers hope to start with the shoot on August 25, hoping that the restrictions will be lifted by then.
