Parvathy, Padmapriya in anthology film Crossroad

It is indeed the age of women in Malayalam cinema. Veteran filmmaker Lenin Rajendran has conceived a novel idea ' an anthology of films, each of which will deal with an issue faced by women of Kerala. Titled Crossroad, the films will go on floors as early as possible, and will be shot and compiled by the end of this year.
'The film is an initiative of a forum of nationally known filmmakers that we are all part of 'Forum for Better Films.We have been discussing the idea for a long while and had no second thoughts when it came to the common theme of the movie ' women's issues,' says Lenin Rajendran.
The anthology will have 10 known filmmakers and each film will feature one actress as the protagonist. Big league actresses have come forward to be part of the venture, among whom are Parvathy, Mamta Mohandas, Padmapriya and Isha Talwar.
Lenin Rajendran himself will be directing Parvathy's film, which has been titled Pimbe Nadappaval. Mamta's segment, titled Badar, sees her as dressed in a burqa, and will be directed by Ashok R Nath. Madhupal will be directing Padmapriya, in Oru Rathriyude Kooli.
While Parvathy said that it's too early to talk about her role and other details, Isha Talwar confirmed that she is indeed part of the film, adding, 'My film will be directed by Albert and is titled Maya. My character is that of a dancer, and that was enough for me to say yes.'
Srinda, Priyanka and an old lady are the other lead actresses in the anthology. While Rajeev Ravi also will be directing a film, nothing has been finalised about his movie as of now. Nemam Pushparaj, Shashi Paravoor, Babu Thiruvalla, Pradeep Nair and Avira Rebecca are some of the other filmmakers.
Besides the 10 directors, a debutante filmmaker is also part of the team ' Nayana Suryan, who has worked with veteran filmmakers like Dr Biju and Lenin. Her segment titled Pakshikalude Manam will have Shruti Menon in the lead.
'Each film will be 15-20 minutes long. Shoot of all the films will go on in parallel, and they will be mixed later. By the beginning of 2017, we plan to release it,' says Lenin.
