Story
'Prathichaya' is a political thriller directed by B. Unnikrishnan and it is set against the backdrop of power, governance and public perception.
The story follows a Chief Minister of Kerala caught in a controversy. The allegations are linked to a corporate nexus. As the situation escalates, his public image begins to suffer.
His son, John Varghese, takes it upon himself to investigate and save his father's image.
Mixed reviews
The film has received mixed responses on social media. One wrote, "Unnikrishnan has written a bold political story with sharp and intricate detailing building layers to each characters that is evident through their performances. The first half is placed through the political landscape and family dynamics exploring a father son camaraderie unlike in other movies followed by an average and predictable second half unfolding the antagonists and their strategies. The situations in the movie may seem familiar but the director has polished the movie by adding a layer of fiction and other prominent topics relevant in this status quo. Absolutely there is no better title that you can think for this movie. Hats off to the team for giving such an incredible movie with technical precision and exceptional casting by Vivek Anirudh."
Another wrote, ""Outdated and Tired Political Drama" It further stated, "The core story also feels similar to real political events in Kerala from about a decade ago. This movie follows an old-style political drama story that might have worked well in the 90s, but today it feels predictable and outdated. The director tries to make up for this lack of freshness by adding grand visuals and stylish presentation, but that alone doesn't make the film engaging."
The review added, "The main plot is about a son taking revenge using political power against the people who destroyed his father's political career."
