Remya croons in Kollywood
She has already wooed the Malayali and Telugu audience with her songs. Now, actress Remya Nambeesan is heading to Kollywood to mesmerise the Tamil audience. Remya will croon a track for Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu director Suseenthiran’s action movie, Pandianadu. Music composer D Iman, who has set tunes for critically acclaimed movies like Kumki and Mynaa and the upcoming movie Jilla, has composed songs for this movie as well.

“Iman had approached me earlier to sing a track for Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Rummy. But since I was busy shooting for a couple of movies and the dates were clashing, it did not materialise. So when he approached me for Pandianadu, I immediately agreed to do it,” says the Ande Londe singer.
For Remya, who effortlessly rendered a Telugu song, Pudamini Mose, in Telugabbai, singing a Tamil song was yet another unique experience. “Luckily, the song was composed in tune with my pitch and tone. As far the language was concerned, I am used to Tamil as I have been in the industry for about six years now. However, it was difficult to get the pronunciation of certain words right,” says Remya, whose Kanavil Kanavil from Sunil Ibrahim’s latest outing, Arikil Oraal, was a big hit with the audience.
Meanwhile, Remya is also busy with her acting assignments. She is currently shooting for Kamal’s Nadan, which will see her in the role of a theatre artist, who falls in love with the theatre troupe owner, played by Jayaram. “Nadan portrays the theatre scene in the 80s, and I handle a multi-dimensional character that is hard to be conveyed through words. I have done no homework for my role. I have just followed the script and Kamal sir’s instructions. I am confident that my character is safe in his hands,” she says.
Remya is awaiting the release of Rojin Philip-Shanil Muhammed’s Philips and theMonkey Pen, in which she plays a young Muslim wife and mother of an eight-year-old child. “The movie has a message to every young mother,” says Remya. Her brother Rahul Subramaniyam has scored the music for the movie starring Jayasurya and child artist Sanoop in the lead.
