​‘Beast’ and ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ Kerala first week box office collection

Two big-ticket releases - ‘Beast’ and ‘KGF: Chapter 2’, were released during the second week of April. While the films were released worldwide, the Kerala Box Office is a robust market for pan-Indian films, especially the ones from the South. And as per trade experts, the box office collection from Kerala during the first weekend for both the movies were impressive. As per the reports, Yash’s ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ has mint about Rs. 28 crores on its fourth day, while Vijay’s ‘Beast’ managed to cross Rs. 9.80 crores in the Kerala box office on its fifth day.

‘John Luther’ Trailer

Makers of Jayasurya starrer ‘John Luther’ have launched the first trailer from the film. Featuring Jayasurya as a cop who suffers from unilateral hearing impairment following an accident, the trailer looks gripping. The film is helmed by debutant Abhijith Joseph and he had previously said to ETimes, “Our film belongs to the thriller genre. It has family sentiments, drama, and elements of investigative thriller, but it’s majorly a thriller. Jayasurya will be seen as a circle inspector in the film. John Luther is a dedicated cop. He is very much devoted to his job, and everything else falls secondary for him.”

​‘Hridayam’ composer to debut in Telugu

Hesham Abdul Wahab, who debuted in the music industry with ‘Hridayam’ and composed the chartbuster songs from the Pranav Mohanlal starrer is heading to the Telugu movie industry. The ‘Hridayam’ musician is composing for an upcoming Telugu film which has Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in lead roles. “After weeks of containing the excitement, so happy to let you all know that I will be composing music for @shivanirvana621 ‘s next movie starring the @thedeverakonda and @samantharuthprabhuoffl produced by @mythriofficial after #pushpamovie This will be my debut in telugu! Heartfelt thanks to all of you for the support and prayers ���� ��,” the musician said, announcing his Telugu debut on social media.

​Suresh Gopi’s next titled ‘Mei Hoom Moosa’

Suresh Gopi is teaming up with Jibu Jacob for his next and the makers have announced the title this week. Suresh Gopi’s 253rd film is titled ‘Mei Hoom Moosa’. “Jibu Jacob joining me for my 253rd venture titled 'Mei Hoom Moosa.' Here's sharing the first glimpse. We are done with a North Indian schedule and beginning shoot in Kerala from today. #MeiHoomMoosa #SG253,” Suresh Gopi shared.

​John Paul no more

John Paul Puthussery, who penned screenplay for around 100 films, passed away on Saturday (Apr 23). He was 72 and was under treatment for various diseases for some time. Best known for the screenplays of classic movies like "Chamaram", "Palangal" and "Oru Minnaminunginte Nurungu Vettam", all directed by the legendary Bharathan and Balu Mahendra-directed "Yatra", Puthussery was a genius who showcased rare skills to write all sorts of movies including action thrillers, dramas, entertainers and even comedy.
