How Malayalam Cinema Quietly Dominated Indian Cinema in 2025
TOI ranked the film 3.5 out of 5, and the review reads, “Lokah is more about gradual but consistent world-building rather than instant payoffs. It lays the groundwork for a superhero cinematic universe in Malayalam cinema, and it does that with sincerity.”
Upcoming ‘Lokah’ installments
The ‘Lokah’ franchise is planned as a five-part series inspired by local myths and folklore. Talking to The Hollywood Reporter India earlier, the director said, “We have an idea of the whole picture. We have a Bible for the next four as well. It's not just the next four, it’s actually how everything started. It's the origin that we have.”
He added, “If you've seen Neeli's origin story, we have every origin story and what has happened over the past 10,000 years laid out. We need to connect it to the present. We know how this is going to end. We know the main plots that will happen in the upcoming films, but we are yet to work on the screenplays for all four. We just have a vague idea of everything that's going to happen. We are specific that certain things will happen, but how it's going to happen, we still need to sketch that out.”
