'Yes, I’m part of the film': Kalyani Priyadarshan CONFIRMS return for ‘Lokah 2’, shoot to begin in September 2026
Actor Kalyani Priyadarshan has finally ended the speculation surrounding her presence in 'Lokah Chapter 2', confirming that she will return to the much-talked-about franchise. After the massive success of 'Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra', fans have been eager to learn whether her character would continue in the upcoming film.
Speaking at a recent public event, the actor shared that the sequel is still in the writing stage and that the team is planning to begin shooting around September. With a simple but exciting statement, “Yes, I’m part of the film, so wait for it,” she gave the project fresh energy and sent fans into celebration mode.
The first film, directed by Dominic Arun, created a huge impact with its mix of folklore, fantasy and strong emotions. Kalyani played Chandra, also known as Neeli, a powerful supernatural figure trying to find her place in the modern world. The film stood out for its scale, visual richness and its rare focus on a female superhero in Malayalam cinema. It went on to become the highest-grossing film in the industry’s history, reportedly crossing Rs 300 crore worldwide. Because of this historic success, expectations for the sequel are very high, and her confirmation has made the wait more exciting.
Early reports suggest that Tovino Thomas will take the lead in the second part as Michael, the chathan, a character that appeared briefly earlier and sparked curiosity. There are also strong rumours that Dulquer Salmaan may return as Charlie, though the makers have not made it official yet. The sequel is expected to expand the Lokah universe and explore new mythological layers while keeping the emotional core that made the first film a blockbuster.
In the meantime, Kalyani Priyadarshan has other projects in the pipeline, including the horror thriller, 'Pralay' opposite Ranveer Singh with director Jai Mehta.
