Anu Joseph: Bold face of Malayalam showbiz

Anu Joseph, who started her TV stint doing small roles, has now become an inevitable presence on the small screen. Like her bold onscreen avatar as Sathyabhama, Anu also has an independent personality and she always speaks with strong conviction on every matter in her real life too. Her character Satyabhama in Karyam Nissaram helped her to gain immense popularity among the female crowd. When it comes to characters, Anu is quite choosy. Though she has been a part of showbiz for more than a decade, most of her characters were as different as chalk and cheese. While she plays an innocent and sweet girl in Alilathaali, she portrays a pretentious woman in Oridathoridathu. However she always tries to bring an identity to each character she played. Anu has also been a part of popular serials like Minnu Kettu, Aalilathaali, Snehachandrika and now Karyam Nissaram

Though many filmmakers are reluctant to cast serial artistes in movies, Anu never has had such experience. The talented actress was offered several roles in movies, including Kanninum Kannadikum, Padham Onnu Oru Vilaapam, Aayirathil Oruvan and Lissamayude Veedu. Recently she played a prominent role in Biju Menon-starrer Vellimoonga and Prithviraj’s Sapthamashree Thaskaraha. Be it films or serials, all she look for is the scope for performance.

It was through dance Anu got into acting. The actress was also won the Kalathilakam title in the school Youth Festival and became the part of Kalabhavan dance troupe to perform classical art forms. Soon She started getting offers for serials and made her debut in Chitralekha aired on Surya TV. There is no turning back for her and Anu played key roles in popular serials like Pazhassi Raja, Makalude Amma, Minnukettu and more. But it was Minnukettu that helped her to gain a strong foothold in the industry.

Amidst her busy schedule in movies and serials, the actress hardly finds time for her hobbies and all. Sometimes the busy actress has to work in two or three serials at a time, and it is not that easy.However the actress says that she never gets bored of acting and she proudly tells that she is enjoying each and every moment in the limelight. And what’s more, she is waiting for more performance oriented role to enrich her acting career.
