In an industry where most stars belong to families with a filmy background, some of them are lucky enough to make it big without any godfather. However, the legacy of filmy families is still followed, which is why belonging to such families really count. In this respect, we bring forth successful Mollywood clans.

Mammootty Family

When it comes to famous Mollywood families, the first one to strike your mind would probably be Mammooty. The legacy was started by the megastar who after completing his LLB from Ernakulam Law College worked hard and rose to stardom. After a successful run in the Malayalam film industry for over five decades, his son Dulqueer has also followed his dad's footsteps. He made is debut in a low-budget movie ‘Second Show’ and later starred in the film ‘Ustad Hotel’. He was awarded Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut twice in 2012 and 2014 for his performance in Malayalam film 'Second Show' and Tamil film 'Vaayai Moodi Pesavum'.

Sreenivasan Family

Sreenivasan, who is well known for his versatility and acting skills, is one of the most successful actors of his time. His son Vineeth, on the other hand, has proven himself as an actor, director, music composer, singer, and writer. Some of his popular films include ‘Cycle,’ ‘Traffic,’ ‘Chappa Kurishu,’ ‘Oru Vadakkan Selfie,’and many more. His younger brother, Dhyan the youngest Sreenivasan on the block, debuted with the film ‘Thira’ that released in the year 2013.

Sukumaran Family

Sukumaran was a popular film actor in Malayalam cinema from the early 70s to the mid 90s. He portrayed the role of an angry young man in many films. His villainous roles garnered him a huge fan following during the 80s. Now, his sons, Prithviraj and Indrajith are two of the most celebrated artists in Mollywood cinema. Both brothers made their debut in 2002 and went on to establish themselves as fine actors and stars with an incredible fan following.

Kunchacko Family

The original chocolate boy of Malayalam cinema has a rich heritage to claim. His grandfather Kunchacko started one of the greatest studios in Malayalam – Udaya in the 40s. The studio was later managed by his son Boban Kunchacko. The actor is also related to Navodaya Appachan who founded the famous Navodaya Studio. The first 70mm film and 3D film in Malayalam was produced by Navodaya.

Fazil Family

Acclaimed director Fazil is one of the most well-known names in Mollywood. The ‘Manichitrathazu’ director’s sons are established actors. Fahad has become one of the most critically acclaimed stars of the current lot. Some of his popular films include ‘Banglore Days’, ‘22 Female Kottayam’, and ‘Chaappa Kurishu.’ His younger brother, Farhan made his debut in Mollywood with Rajeev Rai directed film ‘Njan Steve Lopez’ in 2014. One more addition to this list is actress Nazriya Nazim, who is married to Fahadh Fazil.

Travancore Family

The very talented dancer trio Lalitha, Padmini, and Ragini were known as Travancore sisters all of them being prominent actors and performers in the South film industry. The trio predominantly worked in Malayalam industry but also ruled the Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi film Industry. National award winning actress Shobhana is their niece, and late actress Sukumari was their cousin. Dancer and actor Vineeth is also related to the Travancore sisters.
