​6th Planet Filmfare Marathi Awards 2021: 'Dhurala' to 'Jhimma'; Nominees for the Best Film

Planet Filmfare Marathi is all set to bring to you, the sixth edition of the award show that honours cinematic excellence displayed by artists in Marathi cinema.

Due to the Pandemic, the number of movies in 2020 and 2021 dropped drastically. While there is a lot to look forward to, we give you a lowdown on a list of movies that have been nominated for the Best film category.

​'Basta'

Tanaji Ghadge's comedy-drama 'Basta' starred Suhas Palshikar, Sayali Sanjeev, Parth Bhalerao, and Subodh Bhave in pivotal roles. This film has won a nomination in the Best Film category at the 6th Planet Filmfare Marathi Awards 2021.

The story of the film revolves around the families of a bride and groom who go above and beyond to find the perfect wedding gift for each other, as it will reflect their financial capabilities and taste.

​'Dhurala'

Sameer Vidwans' multi-starrer 'Dhurala' has won a nomination in the Best Film category at the 6th Planet Filmfare Marathi Awards 2021. It revolves around the Gram Panchayat elections in a Maharashtra village. The lust for acquiring political power even in a village can not only turn friends into foes but also family members into enemies.

It featured stars like Ankush Chaudhari, Alka Kubal, Sai Tamhankar, Sonalee Kulkarni, Amey Wagh, Siddharth Jadhav and Amey Wagh in key roles.

​'Jayanti'

Shailesh Narwade's debut directorial 'Jayanti' is the first Marathi film to release in theatres post-lockdown and did wonders at the Box Office raking in huge numbers. It has also won a nomination in the Best Film category at the 6th Planet Filmfare Marathi Awards 2021.

It starred Ruturaj Wankhede, Titeeksha TawdeMilind Shinde, late Vira Sathidar, Kishor Kadam, Amar Upadhyay, and Paddy Kamble in pivotal roles.

'​Jhimma'

Hemant Dhome’s multi-starrer film 'Jhimma' revolves around seven women from different age groups and socio-cultural backgrounds, who decide to go on a trip to England for 10 days setting their responsibilities aside.

It starred Suhas Joshi, Sonalee Kulkarni, Siddharth Chandekar, Kshitee Jog, Sayalee Sanjeev, Nirmiti Sawant, Minmayee Godbole, and Suchitra Bandekar in pivotal roles.

​'Karkhanisanchi Waari’

Mangesh Joshi's award-winning film 'Karkhanisanchi Waari’ has won a nomination in the Best Film category at the 6th Planet Filmfare Marathi Awards 2021.

It starred Mohan Agashe, Pradeep Joshi, Ajit Abhayankar, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Amey Wagh, Mrunmayee Deshpande and Vandana Gupte in pivotal roles.

​ 'Vegali Vaat'

Achyut Narayan's 'Vegali Vaat' went on to garner massive appreciation from fans. It has also won a nomination in the Best Film category at the 6th Planet Filmfare Marathi Awards 2021.

The story of the film revolves around the turmoil and debts of the farmers. It starred Anaya Phatak, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Yogesh Soman, Neeta Donde, Dinesh Ingole and Sharad Jadhav in pivotal roles.
