Actor-director Mahesh Manjrekar is one of the most revered names in the Marathi film industry, who has gained name, fame, and the love of the audience through his phenomenal films. Mahesh Manjrekar made his acting debut in the Marathi cinema with Ramesh Deo's 'Jeeva Sakha' (1992), in which he plays the role of Inspector Jamdade. It also starred Madhu Apte, Laxmikant Berde, Ajinkya Deo and Seema Deo in pivotal roles.

In 2002, the veteran star was at the center of controversy when he revealed to the police that he had spoken to the underworld from a hotel in Nashik, Mumbai in the company of actor Sanjay Dutt, filmmakers Sanjay Gupta and Harish Sughand. However, he later turned hostile in court and denied speaking to anyone.

The birthday boy Mahesh Manjrekar is also known for his performances in the film 'Slumdog Millionaire' (2008), an Oscar-winning movie in which he plays the role of Don Javed. It also starred Anil Kapoor, Dev Patel, Irrfan Khan, and Freida Pinto in pivotal roles.
