Shruti was the obvious choice for Parvati, says Mrinal

Actress Shruti Marathe feels that it was a challenge to play the character of Parvatibai in ���Rama Madhav��� as Parvatibai is faced with extremely complex situations in her life.
Shruti said, ���Compared to all the other couples in the Peshwa family, the married life of Parvatibai and Sadashivrao Peshwe was normal. They loved each other and didn���t have many differences or misunderstandings or ego clashes.However after the news of Sadashivrao���s death in the war of Panipat reached the palace, Paravatibai refused to accept that her husband was no more. Nobody found Sadashivrao���s dead body hence Parvatibai said that until she sees the body of her husband she will not accept his death. The dead body was never found and Parvatibai lived like a married woman till her end.���

Parvatibai faced tricky situations in her life when bodies of random men were brought in front of her and she was asked to identify if any of them was her husband. Shruti said, ���This kind of a thing is a tragedy for any woman even today. I mean it is very difficult to imagine a situation where you are told that your husband has died and later random lookalikes are brought to you for identification.���

When we asked the director of the film Mrinal Kulkarni about what prompted her to cast Shruti in Parvatibai���s role, Mrinal said, ���I wanted to cast an actress with whom people would sympathise. Shruti was extremely popular due to her role as Radha in the serial ���Radha Hi Bawari���. People nurtured a natural sympathy towards her due to her onscreen image. Therefore when I was suggested her name I thought she would fit perfectly into the role.���

Amol Kolhe plays the role of Sadashivrao in the film. Actors Parna Pethe and Alok Rajwade plays the title roles of Rama and Madhav respectively. Sonalee plays the role of Anandibai and Prasad Oak will be seen as Raghoba dada.
