This Women’s Day, #NoConditionsApply
Don’t wear that’, ‘Don’t step out late in the night’, ‘Don’t interact with strangers’, ‘Quit work after marriage’... Haven’t we had enough of the conditions put on women in our society? It is high-time we accept the fact that women and men are equals. Conditions that don’t apply to men, shouldn’t be applied to women either. Equality means equality in everything; it’s not conditional, based on genders.
Taapsee Pannu, actor
"As a woman, I feel that since the time we are born, we are given a list of dos and don’ts related to speaking to people, dressing, carrying yourself in public etc. Then we are told that its not because we don’t trust you, but because we don’t trust the other people. I think people should stop putting conditions on women and start doing that with men who need to understand what is harmful for the other gender."
Swara Bhaskar, actor
"There is always a condition applied to whatever a woman wants to do. On this Women’s Day, I just want to say that we women want equal access, equal opportunity, equal treatment and equal everything, with no conditions applied."
Amruta Fadnavis, banker and singer
"Every woman should take charge of her life. She should have a story to tell. I call upon every woman to live on her terms and not bow down to pressure."
Amit Sadh, actor
"Putting conditions on women is a redundant and retarded thought. This concept of applying conditions to women needs to vanish immediately. I feel that any country that doesn’t respect its women and can’t safeguard them, will never blossom."
Rajkummar Rao, actor
"I have immense respect for women across the world. They are much stronger than men can ever be. We have no right to question what they wear or what they think. I wish that someday we have a society where women stand much higher than men."
Evelyn Sharma, actor
"People think that women can either be very sensitive or very harsh. They don’t understand that women can be bad-ass as well as loving and caring, at the same time. A woman has both qualities and should be proud of this."
Anant Narayan Mahadevan, director
"Women are far superior to men. I salute them for all the power, strength and integrity that we, men, imbibe from them."
Adah Sharma, actor
"I have been brought up in a liberal household and feel safe, but I know for a fact that there are many women in smaller towns who don’t. Girls should be allowed to do what they like and parents need to bring up their sons well too."
