​Ammy Virk and Harrdy Sandhu fly to London with the team of ‘‘83’ for the first shooting schedule

After a lot of real-time training with ace cricketers like Kapil Dev, Balwinder Sandhu and more, team ‘‘83’ today has flown to London for bringing the reality on the reel. Punjabi artists Ammy Virk and Harrdy Sandhu, who are marking their Bollywood debut with this Kabir Khan’s sport’s drama have also embarked this new journey with the rest of the cast.


Based on India's historic win against West Indies at the 1983 world cup, the movie stars Ranvir Singh in the lead as Kapil Dev. On the other hand, Ammy Virk will be seen essaying the role of Balwinder Singh Sandhu and Harrdy Sandhu will bring Madan Lal on the reel.


Other artists that form the ensemble cast are R Badree, Chirag Patil, Saqib Saleem, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Bhasin, Adinath Kothare and Saahil Khattar. The movie is slated to release on April 10, 2020.

Ammy Virk baggs his second Bollywood movie, will essay the role of a fighter pilot in Ajay Devgn’s ‘Bhuj- The Pride of India’

Punjabi singer-actor Ammy Virk seems to touch new heights with every passing day. Last year it was his Bollywood singing debut that fetched him fame, just a couple of months back, him being a part of Kabir Khan’s ‘83’ made him the talk of the town and now he is hogging the limelight for being a part of Ajay Devgn’s ‘Bhuj - The Pride of India’. Ammy Virk will be seen playing the role of a fighter pilot, who will be a crucial part of the film that celebrates India’s triumph over Pakistan in the 1971 war.


Talking further about the movie, ‘Bhuj - The Pride Of India’, is the tale of valour of 300 women of Madhapur, Gujrat who in 1971 played a significant part in India’s victory. Along with Ammy Virk, the other stellar cast of the movie includes Ajay Devgn, Parineeti Chopra, Sanjay Dutt, Rana Daggubati and Sonakshi Sinha.


The movie is being bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar, Kishan Kumar, Ginny Khanuja, Vajir Singh, Abhishek Dudhaiya and Kumar Mangat Pathak. Besides being one of the producers, Abhishek Dudhaiya also enjoys the credit for writing and direction.

Right from the time, when the reports of Ammy Virk being approached for a role in Kabir Khan’s sports-based film was doing the rounds, the actor has been in constant limelight. Moreover, now that it has been confirmed that Ammy Virk will be seen essaying the role of fast bowler Balwinder Singh Sandhu in Kabir’s ‘83’, he is again turning heads. Amid all this buzz, Ammy Virk, recently took to his social media handle to share a picture of him with the Balwinder Singh Sandhu and hooked the netizens instantly.


In the picture, both Ammy Virk and Balwinder Singh Sandhu can be seen sharing a genuine smile as they posed for the camera. While sharing the picture, Ammy Virk wrote, “#balwindersinghsandhu sir.. #relive83 ������”. Looking at the picture, it would not be wrong to state that seeing the real life and reel life Balwinder Singh Sandhu in a single frame is nothing short of visual delight.


Slated to release on April 10, 2020 ‘83’ is a Kapil Dev biopic based on the 1983 World Cup. The movie stars Ranveer Singh in the lead and there are reports that another Punjabi artist Harrdy Sandhu has also been roped in to play a significant character in the film.

Diljit Dosanjh

When we talk about Punjabi celebs in Bollywood, the first name that crosses mind is of Diljit Dosanjh. The Punjabi singer-actor made his way to Bollywood in 2016 with ‘Udta Punjab’ and since then, there’s no looking back for him. This year also he is coming up with two Hindi movies - ‘Good News’ and ‘Arjun Patiala’. The former is a Karan Johar production, that features Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani. It is slated to release on 6 September. On the other hand, ‘Árjun Patiala’ is a Rohit Jugraj’s directorial, starring Diljit Dosanjh, Kriti Sanon and Varun Sharma in the lead. The movie is scheduled to make it to the box office on May 3rd.

Punjabi singer-actor Ammy Virk recently made headlines owing to the confirmation of his part in the Kabir Khan directorial ‘83’. Ammy Virk will be making his Bollywood debut with the movie and will be seen essaying the role of Bavinder Singh Sandhu, the fast bowler. Balwinder Singh Sandhu played a very significant role in the final against West Indies and had famously clean bowled Gordon Greenidge.

Harrdy Sandhu

Another Punjabi star who will be making his Bollywood debut with ‘83’ is Harrdy Sandhu. According to a close source, Harrdy Sandhu has been roped in to play an instrumental role in the movie. Nothing much has been revealed about his character so far, but as per the source, he will be getting good screen time and will be making the most out of his debut in the movie.


Fun fact: Before entering into the Punjabi entertainment world, cricket was Harrdy Sandhu's first love. However, he had to stop playing owing to an injury.

Sonam Bajwa

Punjabi fashionista Sonam Bajwa is reportedly ready to make her first Bollywood appearance in the Remo D’Souza directorial ‘Street Dancer’. The movie has Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead. There are reports that Sonam Bajwa will be featuring in one of the dance sequences of the movies, which has been shot in Punjab. The movie is scheduled to release on November 8.

Navneet Kaur Dhillon

After making her B-town debut in 2016 with ‘Loveshhuda’, Navneet Kaur Dhillon is making a comeback on the Bollywood front with ‘Amavas’. The movie is from the genre of horror-suspense and stars Nargis Fakhri, Sachiin Joshi, Mona Singh, Ali Asgar, Naveen Kaur Dhillon and Vivan Bhatena. This is a new genre to explore for the ‘Ambarsariya’ fame actress and she is excited for the same. The film is slated to release on February 8.
