Debutant director Sampath says his Gandhi Kanakku is a film that will seek to solve an impending issue that’s relevant to the country.Influenced by ‘barrister' Gandhi, Sampath says his film will be both entertaining and thought-provoking.
Working with Sasi has probably rubbed on to Sampath too, as he says he’s made the film realistically. “There’s no exaggeration or extravagance,” he says.
Recalling an incident that happened while shooting, he says, “Actor Ramana had to do a scene where he would buy a packet of food for a beggar.
We were shooting the scene with hidden camera because we didn’t want to disturb the public.Pechi, who plays the role of a beggar, was so convincing that public started giving alms to her! Moreover, few autowallahs, who thought Ramana was acting fresh with the beggar, rushed forward to beat him. It took us a good 45 minutes to convince them that this was all part of a shoot. Despite having to delay the shooting, I’m glad people were so convinced by the artistes’ acting ability!”
