The film, which hit screens in 2001, was a heady mix of family sentiment, friendship, romance, melodrama and comedy as well. Vidyasagar’s music, a major hit

It’s not often that every song in the film becomes a hit. But in this album composed by Vidyasagar, every song turned out to be a chartbuster and the film was even considered a musical hit. The songs included Kaadhal Vandhadhum (KJ Yesudas and Sadhana Sargam), Pudhu Malar Thottu (Sriram Parthasarathy), Thalattum Katre (Shankar Mahadevan), Thirumana Malargal (Swarnalatha), Chella Nam Veettukku (Malaysia Vasudevan, Sujatha Mohan, Harish Raghavendra and Sangeetha Sajith) and Yukta Mookhey (Devan and Clinton Cerejo). Lyrics for the song were by Vairamuthu.

Ajith proved he could pull off any character; reunites with Jyotika

By 2001, Thala Ajith had gained the image of a mass hero with films like Dheena and Citizen to his credit. Even as the makers were said to be apprehensive of casting him in a family-oriented subject after that, the film’s director was said to be extremely confident about the actor pulling off this role that was laced by emotions. The combination of Jyotika and Ajith , who had teamed up after Valee and Mugavaree was also well received. Due to the success of the film, the trio of Ezhil, Ajith and Jyotika, came together again in Raja.

Miss World Yukta Mookhey’s film debut

The film marked the debut of Miss World 1999 Yukta Mookhey in films with the special dance number sung by Devan and Clinton Cerejo. The peppy song, which went by the lines, Yukta Mookhey was dedicated to the pageant winner. However, Yukta didn’t make any major appearance in Tamil films after that though she was part of the Hindi films like Pyaasa and Katputtli.

Twin bungalows were erected for the film

It looks like the team couldn’t find out twin bungalows in the same compound, so they had to erect two new bungalows at Prasad Studios. While one house was erected with modern artefacts, the other was adorned with antiques. The art director of the film was Prabhakaran and his creation fetched him an award. The film that starred Nagesh, VS Raghavan, Sivakumar, Sayaji Shinde,Sukumari, Vivekh, Kovai Sarala, Yugendran, SN Lakshmi, Ilavarasan and Mayilsamy, also went on to win a slew of awards.
