'Vada Chennai'

Dhanush has joined hands with director Vetri Maaran for the third time for 'Vada Chennai', and the film is about the people of North Chennai. Dhanush played the role of a youngster, who stand in support of people living in his area, and the film also explores the politics of the particularregion. The film was a classic hit, and worth revisiting.

'Marina'

Pandiraj's directorial 'Marina' has several young boys playing main roles with Sivakarthikeyan and Oviya in parallel characters. The film tells the story of young boys who run away from their families at a young age and does odd jobs on the Marina beach for a living. The emotional film impressed fans and it also spoke about the struggles of small business owners.

'Thirupaachi'

Directed by Perarasu, 'Thirupaachi' features Vijay and Trisha in lead roles and the film focuses on brother-sister sentiment. But post the interval the action drama shifted focus to Chennai and it explains the underbelly of the busy city. The film indirectly mentioned the life of gangsters in Chennai.

'Chennai 600028'

The multi-starrer cricket drama 'Chennai 600028', which was directed by Venkat Prabhu, features Jai, Shiva, Nithin Sathya, Vijayalakshmi, and Ilavarasu in lead roles. The film is about a cricket tournament happening in a specific region in Chennai, and how teams battle to win the title. The sports drama is packed with romance, comedy, action, and sentiment and the film turned out a huge hit.

'Angadi Theru'

Vasanta Bala's directorial 'Angadi Theru' features Mahesh and Anjali in lead roles and the film has music scored by Vijay Antony and GV Prakash Kumar. The film is about helpless youngsters who shift to Chennai, work at a textile shop and the difficulties faced by them. The film managed to spark conversations on the hardships faced by salesmen and women working in textile shops.
