Controversy surrounds
Vijay's film 'Leo' as a contingent of dancers stages a protest at the film's production office, alleging unpaid wages for their contribution to the 'Naa Ready' song. However, FEFSI President RK Selvamani refutes these claims and issues a clarification in a press release.
Director
Lokesh Kanagaraj initially planned to shoot the 'Naa Ready' song in 'Leo' with a massive ensemble of 2000 dancers.
Choreographer Dinesh Master, responsible for the song, formally approached FEFSI to enlist a significant number of dancers for the project. The Dancers' Association (TANTTNNIS), a part of FEFSI, comprises 1,000 members. However, 400 dancers from the association were already committed to other film projects at that time. To meet the required numbers, 800 non-member dancers were brought in for the song, receiving a daily wage of Rs 1000, while registered dancers were compensated at Rs 1750 per day.
The 'Naa Ready' song was shot between June 6, 2023, and June 11, 2023, and both members and non-members were duly remunerated for their contributions. A total sum of Rs 94,60,500 was disbursed to the dancers, with the respective amounts deposited into their bank accounts. In light of these facts, FEFSI President RK Selvamani dismisses the recent allegations made by a group of dancers regarding their payment for the 'Naa Ready' song in 'Leo'.

Nevertheless, the response from the dancers to RK Selvamani's statement remains to be seen. As 'Leo,' directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Vijay, is slated for release on October 19 with high expectations for a grand pan-Indian premiere.
