From Kurudhi Aattam to Katteri: The Tamil films releasing on August 5

Six straight Tamil films are slated to release on the big screen this Friday, August 5. In addition to these, the dubbed film Sitaramam, starring Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur and Rashmika Mandanna, is also hitting screens. We take a look at the six films and what they have on offer...

Sri Ganesh (of 8 Thottakkal fame) has directed this film, with Atharvaa and Priya Bhavani Shankar in the lead. The film talks about two unlikely people meeting by accident and the friendship they develop. The film will delve into the affection that Atharvaa and child artiste Divyadarshini share. Certain circumstances put the girl in trouble and that’s when Atharvaa’s character comes into play. Veterans Radikaa Sarathkumar and Radha Ravi are also part of the supporting cast of this film, which has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Deekay of Yaamirukka Bayamey fame has made this adventure film with Vaibhav in the lead. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Meesaya Murukku girl Aathmika, Sonam Bajwa (who played the heroine in Kappal) and Manali Rathod from Tollywood are the female leads. The film has a modern, city-set segment and a period portion, with fantasy elements and paranormal elements, and the team says that this will not be just another horror comedy film. Prasad SN is the music director of the film.

Sthosh P Jayakumar has directed this action drama starring Prabhudeva in the lead role. Prabhudeva plays a person with an amputated leg and the highlight of the film will be appa-ponnu sentiment. The daughter character is played by child artiste Aya (of social media Rowdy Baby fame). The film also stars Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Raiza Wilson, and Prakash Raj among others.

Jai and Athulya Ravi are teaming up for debutant director SK Vettri Selvan's action thriller. He plays Kathir, an IT guy, and Athulya his love interest. He is an ordinary guy, but certain incidents lead him to go on a revenge-seeking mission. Sunil Reddy and Anjali Nair are also part of the film. Sam CS has scored the music.

Vijay Vasanth and Chandini Tamilarasan are playing the leads in this film, which takes its title from the 1987 horror thriller. But the story of this movie, set in Ooty, is entirely different, and involves the paranormal experiences that a security guard has. Ranjan, who has assisted Manoj Kumar and a few independent filmmakers, has directed this film, which is also said to have a social message.

Bharath's Tamil-Malayalam bilingual is directed by Sunish Kumar, who has assisted Rajiv Menon. The film is said to be a suspense action thriller revolving around a robbery attempt that takes six hours. Four robbers come together and plot to rob a place in six hours. But there are some unforeseen problems. How does this team deal with them and what happens to them is what the film is all about. The rest of the cast includes Adil Ibrahim, Anu Mohan, Viviya Santh and Pramil Siddharth.
