Hero worshipping is not a new act in India. However, building temple for Kollywood actress is also a practice that has been followed for ages. Starting from Khushbu, the yesteryear actress who got a temple built in 2004 by her fans, 20 years down the timeline, fans have built temples for many actresses. Recently, Samantha's fans decided to build a temple for her in Hyderabad as they wanted to honour her on the actress's birthday. Here are a few actresses, whose fans built a temple for them.

Samantha
Samatha recently turned 36 years old and the actress on her birthday had the best gift of a temple built for her. Samantha's fans in Hyderabad, built the temple for the actress and it was opened on her birthday. The actress was unaware of this as the fans did not seek her permission or inform her of the temple being built for her.

Nayanthara
Actress Nayanthara once she got the title in 2014 as lady superstar; fans wanted to build a temple for her. The actress was very famous at that time, and as depicted in the film 'Soodhu Kavuum' fans were very eager to build a temple for her. However when fans asked her for permission, the actress said that she is happy with the news but denied her fans to build the temple and stated that she did not want her fans to compare her as a goddess.

Hansika Motwani
Fans wanted to build a temple for Hansika at the outskirts of Chennai in 2012. When the actress got to know about the news, asked her fans to not build a temple for her, Hansika was reportedly taken aback and told her fans that it will cause her a huge embarrassment.

Khushbu
Khushbu was the first Tamil actress who got a temple built by her fans in Trichy. But after the actress's statement in 2005 about Aids and pre-marital sex, fans stated that she hurt their sentiments demolished the temple.

Namitha
In 2008, when Namitha's career was at a peak, the actress's fans planned to build her a temple in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. The actress after hearing the news about her fans building a temple for her said that she is thrilled and scared at the same time. Namitha said that a temple built in honour of a living person is a little difficult to come in terms with.
