Cinematographer Velraj turned as a director for 'Velaiilla Pattadhari', and Dhanush played the role of a battling engineer. The entertaining film received tremendous response in all centers and grossed great numbers at the box office. A sequel to the film was made later, but it received mixed reviews. 'Velaiilla Pattadhari' was remade in Kannada as 'Brihaspathi', and it too performed well at the Kannada box office.
