Here are are six Tamil actors who have played photographers in films

Photographers and photo enthusiasts around the world celebrated #WorldPhotographyDay, earlier this week, with elan, by recalling the stories behind some of their favourite clicks. Here are six Tamil actors who have cranked the lens in films, through the years!

The OG photographer in Tamil cinema is none other than Kamal Haasan. One of the earliest films to feature a photographer as a protagonist, Bharathirajaa's 'Tik Tik Tik' follows the life of a photographer, who finds himself in a pickle when he is accused of murder, while on an assignment with models.

Vijay Sethupathi's Ram from '96' has two passions in life: his childhood love (Jaanu) and photography. VSP's Ram is a photographer who roams the country in pursuit of exploring the societies through his lens. The song 'Life of Ram' is a wonderful ode to the photographer in him. Directed by Prem Kumar, the film stars Trisha alongside Vijay Sethupathi.

Selvaraghavan's 'Mayakkam Enna' is undoubtedly one of the biggest Tamil films based on photography. The film starring Dhanush in the lead, depicts the story of an aspiring wildlife photographer and his struggles in life, as he navigates love and friendship along the way.

Vishnu Vishal plays the amiable photographer Gopi in Ram Kumar's hit film 'Mundasupatti', a smashing comedy, alongside Kaali Venkat. The premise of the film, revolves around photography with a twist. It is the 1980s and Gopi lands up in a village that has a strange superstition that attributes photography to be dangerous! The hilarious film also stars Nandita Swetha.

Yet another photojournalist in the Tamil cinema universe is Jiiva's Ashwin from 'Ko'. Jiiva plays a dynamic photographer working for a newspaper in the city. The film follows a photojournalist's life and struggles, as Ashwin is tasked with covering the coming elections in the state.

Photography plays a significant character in Udhayanidhi Stalin's 2018 Tamil film 'Nimir', where the actor plays a small-time photographer running a digital photo studio. The revenge thriller is a remake of Dileesh Pothan's Fahadh Faasil-starrer 'Maheshinte Pathikaram'
