As per reports from Track Tollywood, Prime Video had acquired the OTT rights for Rs 120 crore.After the leak surfaced, the platform reportedly terminated the agreement. This decision has impacted the film’s revenue recovery.The cancellation was not solely due to the leak. Reports suggest that delays in release, linked to pending censor clearance, also contributed to the move.New OTT offer for Vijay's film sees sharp dropReports say that KVN Productions approached another digital platform to secure a new agreement.However, the offer received was significantly lower. The new OTT platform reportedly quoted Rs 50 crore for the film. This marks a steep drop from the earlier Rs 120 crore deal.The film was leaked online on April 9. Soon after, the makers initiated legal action against those responsible.
The legal team representing KVN Productions LLP issued a public warning. It cautioned against sharing any leaked content, including clips, images, or full versions of the film.The leak triggered strong reactions from across the film industry. Chiranjeevi wrote, "The unfortunate leak of #Jananayagan is something that deeply concerns me. Cinema is built on trust, effort, and the collective dreams of many. Such incidents affect all of us in the industry and remind us how crucial it is to protect our creative work. My thoughts and support are with the movie team. Let us all take responsibility to respect and protect cinema. Kill Piracy. Save Cinema."Sivakarthikeyan added, "Every film is made with the passion, blood and sweat of hundreds of people-please avoid piracy. Kindly wait for the theatrical release and watch it in theatres. Whoever is responsible for this must face strict action. Respect the talents. Respect the hard work. Respect the industry. #JanaNayagan."G. V. Prakash Kumar posted, "Do not support piracy. Respect the talent and hard work. So much blood and sweat goes into filmmaking. Painful."Karthik Subbaraj reacted, "Shocked by the Leaking of footage from #JanaNayagan PIRACY is a Crime.... Pls STOP it before it completely kills Cinema and its People."Release plans for 'Jana Nayagan'Despite the challenges, the film is preparing for its theatrical release. 'Jana Nayagan' has faced multiple delays in recent months.The political action drama is now reportedly targeting a May 8 release. According to Pinkvilla reports, the film could release worldwide on May 8, 2026.An official confirmation from the makers is still awaited.
